With Napster Gone, Discover Rdio!

Technology and new media is evolving. Following the buyout of Napster by Rhapsody, the service was discontinued on December 16, 2011 for an undetermined period.

Luckily, Sonos supports other music services, including Rdio. Like with Napster before it, you will have access to an extensive library of music for $ 9.99 a month. Sociability is still present on your system, so Rdio users can recommend songs and artists to other members and share their discoveries.

To register, visit www.rdio.com, available only in English. The button “try Rdio for free” will give you access to a 7-day trial period, during which you can consult the catalog of songs for free. All that is left to do is to activate a monthly service on the site. Once logged in with the user ID and password you created for the trial period, you can register by clicking on “subscribe” and choose the “unlimited” plan, which allows you to use Sonos. Payment is done by credit card. Next, add your new service in your Sonos system:

  • Use “Sonos desktop controller” on your PC or Mac.
  • Select “configure music services” in the “music” menu.
  • Select “Rdio” in the list of services.

If you have already created your account, select “I already have a Rdio account.” On the next screen, enter your information. And presto! You now have access to the Rdio music library!
